Man gave names to all the animals
Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in literature this week. It was a huge surprise, I do not know anyone expecting it (except perhaps the Swedish Dylan copy Ulf Lundell). Dylan is the first winner from the music lyrics-genre ever. The Swedish Academy has definitely broadened the scope of the prize during the last years. Svetlana Aleksijevitj, the Belarusian writer who won last year, does not write fiction but documentaries.
You can find Man Gave Names to All the Animals on Dylan's album Slow Train Coming from 1979. It is reggae inspired, and the lyrics draws on the Genesis-chapter in the Bible, where man give names to the world, and different aspects of the world gets separated from each other. The easy-going song has definitely qualities as a children’s song, which has made it criticized. However, I like it, and it was in my ears while making this shoe rack. Oak, oil.
